The LORD is my shepherd; / God is guide and my leader
I shall not want. / He is sufficient for me. I am satisfied, content and fulfilled.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. / I can relax and enjoy nature, beauty and everything around me
He leads me beside still waters. / I can spend time alone with God, I can have solitude and peace
He restores my soul. / He refreshes me, gives me new energy and enthusiasm
He leads me in paths of righteousness / He teaches me to do the right thing
for his name’s sake. / Living a blameless and upright life that brings him glory
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, / When bad and unexpected things happen to me
I will fear no evil, / I will not be afraid
for you are with me; / God will take care of me
your rod and your staff, / God’s word, God’s power and God’s presence
they comfort me. / Protects and comforts me
You prepare a table before me / God wants me to celebrate, be joyful and give him thanks
in the presence of my enemies; / In the midst of trouble, sorrow, poverty, depression, injustice, sickness, mental health, joblessness, economic downturn, complacency, anger, ignorance
you anoint my head with oil; / I am chosen by Him and I have authority to claim He is my God
my cup overflows. / My life is full of good things, and it affects others around me
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me / My life will be full of good things
all the days of my life, / as long as I live on earth
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. / because someday my body will die, but I will not, because my soul and spirit belongs to Him.
