Forefathers

This piece was first featured on paperparachute’s blog, but it’s so good I had to copy it here. I think paperparachutes won’t mind, considering we share the same grandfathers in the pictures.

grand·fa·ther

[gran-fah-ther, grand-]
noun

1. the father of one’s father or mother
2. a fore father
3. the founder or originator of a family; the first of its kind, or the one being longest in existence

Men of honour, grace and stature. Men who have lived through the darkest hours and still live a life that inspires me. Each of them are pioneers in my eyes.

The first as of above – gentle as a dove; my great grandfather, the 1st generation Methodist in China, whose countenance I only knew through pixels.

The second – pillar of strength; my grandfather, one whose wisdom and depth of thinking never cease to amaze me.

The third and last – heart of gold; my other grandfather, one whose love runs deep, the epitome of a generous & giving heart.
