I’ve been back in Penang for a week now, and meeting up with friends and family has opened my eyes and heart to the lives of people around me.
Not a day goes by without hearing stories of tragedy and broken lives. There are ageing parents with cancer, single mums raising children without state benefits, cousins who have left school at 14, relatives turning to witch doctors.
There is demonic oppression, unhappiness, burden and anxiety. Most of the time I sit back and listen. I listen to the stories, and listen to the details. But what I really hear is a desperate cry for a God to set them free.
Lord Jesus, help me not to be indifferent towards the lives and circumstances of the people I meet. Help me to speak your truth and demonstrate your love to bring freedom, healing, joy and peace. Thank you that you have conquered the world. Amen.
