It’s not usually that I share internet memes that go viral on Facebook and etc, but this one is just too hilarious! When 10 Things I Hate About You was released in 1999, I was 13 years old and only had eyes for Joseph Gordon-Levitt from watching too many American sitcoms like 3rd Rock From The Sun.
I think at that Lizzie McGuire age, I was naturally attracted to the younger male star. It was only years later that I started to appreciate Heath Ledger’s hulkier and sulkier look. By then, it was a little too late as he sadly passed away in 2008 when I was at university.
For a long time, I did wonder about how you can watch a film liking a certain actor, but come away years later to realise that you like the other actor more – simply because you have grown in age, taste and have come to a different point in your life.
And in a really scary way, Joseph Gordon-Levitt really resembles Heath Ledger now that he’s much older. The more I see the former, the more I am reminded of the latter’s brooding figure – all because of the film connections in 10 Things I Hate About You and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
