October was a month that I spent quite a bit of time with a childhood friend. We went shopping and eating in Raffles City on a Sunday night, including a 101 prep talk on how not to shiok sendiri, watching Dracula with a mutual friend from Vietnam, going for a late night hand and foot massage at Simpang Bedok, and a funny account of first time Bodycombat classes at Fitness First.
October was another month of good food. Of red velvet cupcakes, eggs royale at a hidden gem of a café called Jewel on Rangoon Road, Croque Madame Ma Ling at Food for Thought, Geylang’s frog porridge on Lorong 9, delicious American Sliders at HOUSE at Dempsey, trying Skinny Pizza’s squid ink pizza for the first time, and making an awesome potato salad for the homies.
The higlight of my October was probably an afternoon with a colleague out and about in Little India on his birthday. Not only did I treat him to a halal brunch, we ended up executing a few back alley photoshoots, which included me putting him in a Sheng Siong trolley, and him putting me on a bike, and walking through a flock of pigeons amongst other forms of “creative direction”.
Other highlights include fishing in Punggol, watching Gone Girl in Shaw Balestier followed by Japanese craft beer at Jibiru, visiting Universal Studios, being part of a pre-wedding photoshoot at Botanic Gardens, writing in a SOHO in Clarke Quay, writing with my partner at Bedok Mall, being told of my “divine alarm clock” and getting to encourage a friend in the States.
