Halfway to Home

On 15th June 2015, I took the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) train back to Penang from Johor Bahru on board the Rakyat Ekspress that runs once a day from Woodlands to Butterworth. Because I did not want to depart from Singapore and pay the fare in SGD, I decided to spend the night in a hotel in JB. The hotel is located next to the train station so I could catch my train on time, and so I did not have to cross the Causeway in the early morning.

The journey started at about 8:50am and I arrived at about 10pm. From there, I took the ferry across to Penang Island. The journey took a total of 13 hours, with a total of 20 stops in between. Along the way, I passed by many other smaller stations, some with very interesting names. The sights were pretty spectacular, as they were not the usual scenery that you would see along the North-South Highway. I recommend this train journey experience to all.

Here are some of the unedited pictures I took on my Huawei phone.
